TATA Harrier 2023
Tata Motors has unveiled the all-new Tata Harrier (half-generation update), a feature-packed SUV that is sure to impress. The Harrier has been a popular choice among Indian SUV buyers since its launch in 2019, and the 2023 model builds on that success with several significant updates like Dark Editon, Kaziranga Edition, Gold Edition, Jet Edition & Red Dark.
Design
The front of the SUV has undergone a comprehensive revamp, featuring Daytime Running Lights (DRL) stretched along the entire bonnet, accompanied by a welcoming animation. The grille is now divided into two distinct parts, setting it apart from the Safari, and adorned with chrome embellishments on both sections. The lower portion of the grille serves as a sizable air vent, housing both the radar and a camera. Departing from the previous large halogen lamps, the Harrier is now equipped with LED headlamps, referred to as ‘ice cubes’ by TATA, complemented by horizontal fog lamps featuring cornering capabilities. A touch of aerodynamic design is evident in the form of an air curtain integrated into the front bumper.
Exterior
The most noticeable change to the Harrier is its exterior design. The front of the SUV has been completely redesigned, with a new split grille, LED headlights, and daytime running lights (DRLs) stretched along the entire bonnet with an welcoming animation. The side profile remains largely unchanged, but the Harrier now features new alloy wheels that range in size from 17 inches to 19 inches, depending on the variant.
The rear of the car has been tweaked compared to the previous design, with reflectors and reversing lamps sculpted into the bumper. The taillamps are now full-length LED with stylish L-shaped brake lights.
Interior
The significant change in the new TATA Harrier lies in its redesigned dashboard layout and the array of features integrated into the car. At first glance, a prominent 12.2-inch Harman infotainment touchscreen system captures attention, positioned prominently on the center console. Beneath the screen, touch-sensitive controls for the air conditioning vents accompany physical buttons for regulating the blower speed. Notably, a wireless charger is discreetly placed beneath the terrain mode selector switch. The Harrier boasts a fresh 4-spoke steering wheel featuring a luminous TATA logo and touch controls/buttons. In a departure from the conventional analog instrument cluster, TATA has introduced a fully digital screen, measuring approximately 10.2 inches, for the first time.
Engine
There haven’t been any changes to the powertrain of the vehicle. It retains the same engine – a 2.0L BS6 Phase 2 compliant turbocharged diesel engine developed jointly by TATA and Fiat. This engine can produce 170PS (167HP) at 3750rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1750-2500rpm. There are two gearbox options available – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The automatic gearbox is sourced from Hyundai.
