Is the BMW X5 considered a luxury car?

The BMW X5 (G05) is undoubtedly one of the most attractive SUVs, offering an ideal blend of luxury and performance in the Indian market and potentially worldwide. The 2023 updated version of the BMW X5 continues this legacy, improving it with advanced technology and increased power.

Exterior

A lot has changed on the exterior; the first noticeable difference on the front is the BMW’s signature kidney grille, which has grown in size (seemingly contributing to BMW’s success in sales). Additionally, LED lights have been added underneath the grille, referred to by BMW as ‘Iconic Glow.’ The car also features redesigned bumps to allow for improved airflow. The sleek headlights incorporate adaptive matrix LED functionality, enhancing visibility.

Moving to the rear, the taillamps have been refreshed with L-shaped inserts, providing a distinctive appearance. The boot lid opens in two parts, similar to its larger sibling, the BMW X7. Trapezoidal exhaust tips have been retained from the previous generation. The X5 comes equipped with 21-inch Y-spoke alloys as standard on all trims.

In terms of dimensions, the car measures 4935mm in length, 2004mm in width, and 1765mm in height, with an approximate weight of 2170 kg.

Interior

The interior is inspired by the X7. The redesigned dashboard features a curved floating display angled towards the driver, which is split into two parts. This includes a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with iDrive 8.0 and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The ambient lighting bar appears to be carried over from the 7 series. The gearshift has been omitted and replaced by a knob.

Engine

The new BMW X5 is available in two variants, namely xLine and M Sport, offering both Petrol and Diesel engine options. The xDrive40i features a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces 381bhp and 520Nm torque. The second engine option is a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor, generating 286bhp and 560Nm torque. Both engines are paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that adds an additional 12hp and 200Nm torque.
